So I have a biocube going with some LR and 2 clowns and a Sabae. I took a rock from my yard, boiled it, and threw it in. It's been MONTHS, obviously I didn't know anything when I did it, but could it be seeded by now? Or is it just an ornament? ;D

it depends on how dense the rock is. the more dense, the longer it will take to seed

Honestly, it could be doing more harm than good. There's no telling what pollutants or heavy metals could be in the rock, either currently or waiting to be leached out. I would pull the rock out of there personally

As I have recently learned, the metals contained in the rock is harmful to freshwater but even more detrimental in salt because the salt water would cause the metals to rust faster than freshwater would.
The rust will leak out into the water thus poisoning your water.

Boiling the rock would kill bacteria but won't do anything for the harmful metals.

Yes, boiling the water will do absolutely nothing for environmental pollution or heavy metals.

Boiling wouldnt matter in this case. It rains on the rock but doesnt change anything....Yard rock is so much different than ocean rock...I agree with PackLeader I would toss it...
