I have an orange spotted goby and I barely ever see him. I normally have to peek through holes in rocks to try and see him. They definitely arent the type of fish that swims around in plain site.

I have one and it is out fron all the time, making a mess with sand all over everything. I was actually thinking about trading him in at the LFS. He does keep the sand really clean!

The golden headed sleeper goby is a very active fish and should be out sifting sand constantly. That being said, it may very well be digging itself a burrow so you may not see it for a few days while it adjusts to your tank and gets settled in.

As I mentioned in your other thread, it will eat flakes but flakes don't have enough nutrition to keep them alive. These fish don't eat algae and will quickly eat up all of the bugs in your 29 gallon so you really need to feed what I suggested in your other thread.

When i got mine a long time ago it stayed hidden for a few days while it made its burrow. Then after its home was made, it was out constantly swimming and sifting sand. It made friends with my clown so the two were always swimming next to each other. It would also come to the surface and eat frozen mysis and brine straight from my hand.
