I recently received some snails from a friend. I wasnt really planning on them at the moment but I didnt want to turn them down. I do not have anything to qt them in right now. It is my goal to have a system free of ich. These are nassarius snails. Do I acclimate them to my dt and then give a fresh water bath? Not sure how to do this. They are floating as we speak. Thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would not do a fresh water bath, until someone can verify that it does not kill marine snails. The SG difference would surely do them great harm I would think.

The only real solution I see is them remaining in an environment free of fish for the standard 28 days.

I guess the only thing I can do is place them in the tank. I will thoroughly acclimate them and maybe run some tank water over them. Maybe that will wash away any parasistes?? I just read that a dip would kill them so that is out.

To my knowledge snails cannot carry ich. I usually do the floating bag trick and them put'em in my DT.

Will running tank water over them from my dt through a syphoned tube wash off any parasites that may be hitchhiking?

Correct they do not, carry it but any water housed within the shell has the potential to carry the parasite.

What about running water over them from my dt from a tube? Would this wash away parasites hitchhiking?

I've never heard of that done but rinsing them in RO water probably wouldn't hurt.
