Hey guys never used it before in a tank. Plan on modifing the skimmer intake and output pipes, just wondering if any PVC is reef safe or if you guys purchase a special type

    regular ol' PVC.
I believe just about all of the primer now is colored. I love working with PVC. I've made some sweet spud guns in my youth.

From what I understand any PVC will work, I did go into Lowes and they mentioned their PVC is not reef safe.. Then even had a training on it but all their PVC meets drinking water standards. :/

I don't think so, I ended up still purchasing it for my overflow. The PVC still meets all the requirements for drinking water (Same as other stores PVC).

Unless anyone else wants to chime in and share their feelings.

Ok thanks. I want to make a sponge prefilter instead of the surface skimmer box. This shouldnt impact the performance of the skimmer should it?

Also the output tube is a T with the bottom leg havign a pipe and elbow attached to return water and the top arm open to air. Not sure if this has a purpose or not but if you look down you see the water swirling like a toilet bowl into the tank. I planned on finding a cap for this part and maybe drilling a small hole into the center of it in place of having the whole thing open. Would this cause any issues?

I don't see why there would be any problems with doing that.
