It's obviously some kind of worm but none of the hitchhiker guides show anything like this. I can see a row of hairs or teeth or something like that in the middle, but a single curved row, not a completely circular mouth like you would see on a polyp.

Here is a link to the video.

Just for reference, the shell in the 2nd pic is about 1".

    Thanks,
    Doratus

The purple doesn't look so bad from a distance, but yeah, up close it looks alien.

    Thank you, I lucked out.

It looks like it could be a vermitid snail. They feed by sending out streamers and then reeling them back in.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Is this LR brand new?

I am stumped but it kind of resembles a small closed mushroom, with filaments showing.

    Touch it!!!!!!!! ;D

This live rock has been in the tank since the first week.. So maybe 3 months? I don't know what your idea of new is.

Standby for a report on the poking!

Okay I took a short video of me poking it. Check it out here.

Notice when you first see the shadow from my hand the creature moves a little, then when I actually touch the thing it sucks in fully. So it's like a two-stage retraction. Interesting. I love saltwater. :D

Edit: I should also add that the "tube" is very hard and somewhat transparent.

I can't see the video on my phone, but could it be a tunicate?
