Purple Background?

Has anyone tried doing a purple (coraline) color background?

I was reading a thread somewhere about a fake coralline background. The idea was to drip coralline colored paints all over the back glass so it looks like coralline spots.

 

I've got plenty of those in real coralline, and my background is bright blue now so it doesnt look so hot... then the idea I though was a purple background.
I also have what looks like a line where the growth stops about 3/4 up the glass for some reason. Must be the way the lights hit.
I would love to see a pic of one someone has done.

My wife sponge painted mine with mostly purple and a little blue. I like the looks a lot.

 

Its hard to tell. Is that just from the Coralline or is the back also painted a color?
