lol i love tangs especially blue hippo, always been my fav fish, but i at least know that there would be no way i could keep one in my tank :( oh well. Yea i hope my puffer let's me keep corals, and i'm hoping he'll let me keep the wrasse, as this is mainly his tank because that's the whole reason why i got this bigger tank since he has outgrown his 20 gallon

yea, well i acutally asked for a fish tank from my parents in june for my birthday, they bought me a 47 tall, cause they wanted to surprise me. They realized that i wasn't happy cause the filter alone would not even fit on the back of the tank, and it would be nearly impossible for me to stack rock and have enough swimming room on a tank whose width is only like 12inches or so. So then a few weeks later i begged them to let me return it for a different tank, i felt bad since it was supposed to be a surprise, but there would have just been no way that i could have used that tank for what i wanted. They agreed on the 46 gallon. I'm much happier with it. When we got the 46 we had it sitting in the garage for a couple of weeks while i painted my room. We then bought the window tint for the tank, waited about a week for it to arrive. We got it on thursday, put it on the tank yesterday *saturday* let it dry 24hrs, then moved it to where it is now. :D

what are you going to be running for filtration? I always liked 46 bows, but that stand seems like its not going to leave you much room for anything but dry storage or maybe a canister filter. do you already have your sand and rock? if so I would get that in as soon as you get the water with a powerhead to get the cycle moving along. cant wait to see this done!

lol that's what he did when i first got him, he was an impulse buy, he was still small so he was in freshwater. I new pretty much nothing about fish, i had an overstalked 10 gallon community fish tank, i threw him in there, a couple days after i got him, i came home from work and i found all of the other fish floating dead with chunks bitten outa them, and there he was, just swimming along, he was so cute, i didn't have the heat to take him back, and that was the day i fell in love with predators, i love watching this guy eat, but he is one picky eater. All he will accept are frozen bloodworms, and crickets for his teeth, and sometimes snails, also for his teeth

the filteration will be the emperor 400 power filter, which barely fits in the space where the beam is, and the skimmer will be CPR Aquatic Bak Pak 2R+ Hang-On Protein Skimmer which will hopefully fit the space. No rock and sand yet, that won't be for a while, since i'm going to purchase the ligthing and skimmer once i get my C.C. paid off. :D

Oh wow...I remember the anxiety and "I barely know what I'm doing" feeling of when we started our first aquarium. Which was, and is, a 46 bowfront :D

I can't wait to see it up and running! Good luck, and keep us posted!

lol that's exactly how i feel, lol i'm sure once i get the water, lr, and sand in i'll be needing lots of help when it comes to placing rock, best place to put powerheads, and whatever else pops up, i've liked your 46 turned out, hopefully i can make mine just as nice, i just hope my puffer allows me to get a nice reef, lol sad how the fish is in charge of what's going to be going in the tank :D

I had my heart set on getting a lion fish in a reef tank, but after attempting it I ended up trading him back to my LFS. to be honest I have never seen any pics of a full blown reef tank with a puffer in it, might be something to consider. If you wanted to get your cycle going asap you could get your rock and sand instead of the lights and add those in after.
