Hey all, I think I've decided what direction I want to go with my reef setup.

My setup is 130 gal (the 6 footer) with a 30 gal sump. I have about 225 lbs of live rock in the tank/sump.

I would like to go with:

    1 Flame Angel
    1 Regal Tang
    1 Diamond Goby
    1 Foxface
    1 Coral Beauty
1 or 2 clownfish (when I get a more established reef for them)
    1 Volitan Lion
    1 Lunar Wrasse

Cleaning crew, a branded prawn, a couple of cleaner shrimp and a few firefish/damsel types that will dodge in and out of the liverock.

I think this combination gives me a very good contrast in colors, body types and tank location. I think I also get some good 'utility' in there with the Tang and the foxface for hair alge, the Goby for sifting, etc...

    My major concers are:

    A) The lion - I really don't want to get rid of him, he's a holdover from a friends tank, he's good sized, a great eater and very attractive. He comes to the top anytime you come near the tank and does extremely well on frozen foods. He's had only 1 'incident' in 5 years (RIP Tomato clown...). He's not at all agressive, but he IS a lion and if the mood strikes, they'll eat what they can catch. He's just such a fun fish to have in there with his looks and personality. Anyone have any experience with lions in a reef tank?

    B) The foxface - they get a bit of a rap for nibbling on certain corals, but I think a steady seaweed supplement will keep him satiated and away from the corals. I just really like the movement and coloration he'll provide.

    C) The two pygmy Angels. I know housing 2 can be tricky, but I have a fair amount of room and figured the coral beauty is passive enough that I shouldn't end up with a war on my hands.

    D) Space. With that much live rock and eventually (hopefully) a good coral foundation, I'm a little bit concerned that I may not have enough space in there when these guys get to full size. Granted, the tank's pretty good sized, but it could always be bigger. I'd hardly have the largest bioload of anyone I've seen, but does this seem like an unreasonable amount of fish for that tank?

    Thanks in advance.

A full grown lion can eat an adult dwarf angel, and anything smaller. I tried hard to get a lion in my reef, but they severely limit you on what other additions you can have in the tank. I would try to re-home him, or live with a reef with a lion centerpiece and 3-4 other medium sized fish, nothing under 5", no decorative shrimp, smaller wrasses, damsels/chromis/anthias, and the list goes on and on.

So try to do something different with the lion.

Any other concerns? Bioload is reasonable?
