Hi guys i have been having problems with turbo snails. My tank is two weeks old and has cycled. The first time i had problems with snails was because my temputure was too low. The lfs let me return them and i turned my tempeture up to 78.2 F. I got three turbo snails. one is on the glass and the other two fell. i put them on the live rock and they haven't moved. i check my parameter sg 1.024 calium 500 ppm ammoneia 0 nitrates 0. What should i do. I there something else other then a snail that does it job. could it be because its a new tank and there's no alage.

IME turbo snail are a hit or miss. mine are all gone, let just say that. some people have theres forever. Your tank cycled in two weeks? What size of tank are we talking about? there might not be much for them to eat.

    What level is your nitrites?

Aside from that, your levels appear to be just fine for a FOWLR. When I first had my 29 FOWLR, I had 1 turbo snail. I had it for about 2 months and it seemed to die randomly. I wasn't able to find out what went wrong.

I hope someone else has answers.

How long has it been sitting there? It might just be in shock. Sometimes when my turbos fall over they get mad and stay in their shell. Also do you know how long it was flipped over for? After awhile they will die or hermit crabs will pick at them. So thats another possibility

What is your magnesium level? Magnesium can act as a muscle relaxant in snails. Above 1500 or so, may sometimes cause "drunken" behavior, falling off glass etc.. in turbos.

Some turbo snails prefer colder water and don't live long in our aquariums..

You dont need them, but it would be wise to have some sort clean up crew in the tank. Cerith snails are much smaller but good. Maybe check out Reefcleaners.org and fill out a custom order and see what is recommended for your needs.
