    Welcome, welcome, welcome!

It will take a couple weeks for it to settle in and will need adjusting during that time. I clean my collection cup once or twice a week and then the whole unit monthly. I have a Seaclone 100 and 150 that I am very happy with.

Skimmindg will not have a significant effect on lowering nitrates.  They remove dissolved organic compounds.  What is the source of your nitrates?  Are you over feeding?  You can do a water change to export the nitrates, but finding the cause is a more long term solution.

::) I bought a SeaClone about 2 weeks ago and originally I was having the same problem. It would constantly spit out a bunch of small bubbles into the tank. What I did was turn the air flow off for a couple of days and let it run like that. After the 2 days was up, I started letting air into the skimmer. It still did the bubble thing, but not as much and over the course of about 2 days, the bubbles were gone and it was skimming away. I have a fairly new tank, and so far it doesn't skim all that much, but the stuff it does get is nasty looking. [smiley=alien.gif]

Welcome back to the hobby! One thing that hasn't changed is the need for patience, eh? Won't be but a few weeks and your Seaclone will be all broken in and skimming stinky gunk!
