I have a 200W Ebo Jager heater which I bought 2 months ago for my 55G tank. I've been trying to keep the temperature around 75 but I can't get it under 80. There's a dial on top of the heater which I initially set at 78 then have brought it all the way down to 69 but it has always stayed at 80 degrees, no more no less. I'm wondering if the heater is bad or there's something like cold draft that's affecting it.

Sounds like your heater needs to be returned........

I thought Jager heaters were made by Eheim?? Either way, it sounds busted and should be returned or sent in for warranty repair.

what kind of lighting do you have? Is there anything else that could be heating the tank? Did you check the temp at night too?

Mine did the same thing. I came home to find my tank at 84! No matter how much I turned it down, it kept heating up.

    I have 3 different Jager's (100W 150W 200W)

The 100W just crapped out on me lastnight after about 3 weeks in use on my 10Gal Quarantine. I would crank it up to 90 and still wouldn't go on.. Even though the water was 76.

I have a 200W in my main tank that's been running okay so far, though I noticed on all 3 of them, the thermostat is very off..

My main and quarantine tanks have to be set ~70 to maintain a temp of 78.. :loco:

I have T8 fluorescent lights sitting on top of a clear canopy so that can't be the reason.

I just received an email from Ernest Cedeno(tech support) of Eheim. All I have to do is recalibrate the factory's original setting on this unit and he sent me a detailed instruction on how. It's very simple.

Pull the button on top as far out as it can go, after you do that adust the temperature and then push the button back in to lock it. Once you get it locked in, you can turn the knob all you want and it won't adjust the temp on the heater.
