Is there anyway of testing my alk? I can get to the city to pick up a test kit until friday, and I think it might be off
My sg is 1.024 which is normal according to my research, my nitites are 0 my ammonia is 0 my nitrates are 2ppm so is there anyway of telling what my alk is aside from a testing kit?

its probably because of the Brita water your LFS told you to use...

Lol They didnt tell me to use it I asked, and they said any added filtration cant hurt. You really dont like LFS's do you? Remember the guys I speak to arent a petsmart or pjs or petco or something lame. they are a genuine reefing store. Brita tap filters as we know remove chlorine sulphur, some phosphates and heavy metals and particles, so realistically, my problem isnt from that, if anything what I am doing is helping by removing crap from the water. I have narrowed down the problem. It was because my xenia is in too high of flow as its directly in the path of a pump. Also I just installed t5s on my tank so its just adjusting.

Xenia typically like high flow/high lighting but it may need to adapt. I have 4 fish stores in my town, combined they are less knowledgable then a couple of people whose advice you wouldn't take. Lots of people use plain tap water with success. Many more have used it (or a version of it ie. Brita) with added difficulty much like you are experiencing. It's your tank, you could put a chunk of copper in there if you wanted to and your fish may be just great. But chances are it is not for the best

hi, i don't think tom was trying to say all lfs are bad, now your probably right about the lights zennia are very sensitive to lights it seems like once there going down hill that nothing can stop them.

I hope my xenia can pick back up, its not very big, but also doesnt seem to be delcining anymore at this point but also doesnt seem to be improving

I'm sure your xenia will be just fine. I had some hitch hike on some rock I got from someone locally. Now it is spreading like wild fire lol. Like you said in another thread, everyone has different opinions on stuff.

True that. I know I just battled some manjo and aiptasia, luckily it was just one rock so far, and it seems to be under control for now. I just hope my xenia comes back, is it possible for it to be in "Too high of flow"? where it is it looks like its getting bashed around a lot
