    When comparing powerheads I come across one abbreviated spec and I can't figure out what it stands for.

    It's the "Qmax" spec. I assume it means the maximum gallons per hour it can push out, but what does the "Q" actually stand for?

    Also there is an "Hmax" any idea what this means?

    Q= Flow
    H = Height or Head usually expressed as "feet of head".

    They are common terms used in fluid dynamics and hydraulics.
