I would definitely buy a battery back up air pump. I have one which only turns on if the power goes out. Runs on 2 D batteries for up to 150 hours. It was about 20 bucks so certainly a valuable insurance on your tank as oxygen is the biggest issue, then temperature.

I also bought a 2K watt gasoline generator for about 600 for in case there is a long period of no power. That is a little extreme, but I like to be prepared. The cheap man's version of a generator can be your car with an inverter and an extension cord though and that can work for several hours if needed.

    Thanks.
My brother works in St.Peters, and just got home. Said his area was a mess.

I'm definitely going to pick something up this week, what with Spring weather and Snow...

BTW, the power is back on, so only 2-3 hours w/o.

Thanks for all your help, you're awesome.

Years ago when I was managing Planet Reef (now gone), the power went out at my house so I was sure power was out at the store too. I drove there around midnight and sure enough, no power. I went back to the warehouse to get the generator and IT WAS GONE!!! I spent the next 6 or 7 hours going tank by tank and doing the "pouring water" method. That was a VERY long night. LOL

oh wow inwall, that must have been a rough one. I had to do that for my single tank one time before I got the back up systems and I told myself never again! Couldn't imagine having to do that for an entire store!
