I'm not sure if I catch your drift, but evolution has no genius. It's simply governed by the indifferent hand of environmental pressure and the success or failure of those who can adapt and reproduce.

As far as primordial slime is concerned, it looks like life on earth may have arose from deep sea vents. Hopefully the announcement tomorrow will shed some light on the beginning of life on earth or another planet or comet.

Or it could just be a signal from another civilization mocking us for not being able to venture beyond our our solar system :) " you idiots put a monkey in space, and then a few years later dunebuggy'd on your moon, and now your RC rover is out of juice, amateurs! "

Life on mars or on one of jupiter's moons is my guess...

As far as how life came to be ...there is far too much organization in the seeming chaos of the world for this to be just a happy accident, though I'm not believing in any religion or anything...just that there is intelligence behind the design....just because we don't grasp the whys and wherefores does not detract from that. JMO

But this isn't a thread about that sort of thing.

Perhaps one of our rovers or other probes brought something (bacterial or otherwise), on purpose or not, to Mars and now it's grown/evolved or something....

I'm sticking to my prediction. A distant planet inhabited entirely by lonely victorias secret models...

I dont want to sound like an A#@, but big F'n deal, we have soo many problems to be sorted out on our own planet and the money spent for research on this particular matter would be better spent on trying to fix our economy and country. Thats just my .02 cents for all its worth, probably not even worth .02 cents.
