Harlequin Groupers are a beautiful fish. They are almost as pretty as a miniatus grouper but they have one advantage over a miniatus. IME, they are very outgoing after a couple of weeks. I had one that gently ate krill out of my hand. I would recommend a 75g or higher. They eat a lot so have good filtration. However, these guys repay you because they are like a puppy dog. Obviously you don't want to feed them everytime they act like they are hungry....they beg for food like a puppy dog too. Don't keep with long skinny fish like psuedochromis or small blennies.

You would need something bigger than a 75 when this guy is full grown. They get HUGE.... Like the fish you see at the State Aquarium huge!!

I've never seen them that big. I should have stated that 75 is the minimum for when it's a baby. I had one that got to be about 13" before I sold him to a casino and it took him a couple of years to get that big. After reading your post, I did a little research. One said it can get to be 17 inches.

I sure gave bad advice on min tank size....sorry

If we bought them super young, they probably wouldn't get as big. Nature does a better job of growing them up than we do.

I want one of these guys, you are lucky to have owned one. They are up there on my wish list.... with the Imperator Angel and the Powder Blue Tang.

Wow, so pretty! One day I will have a big enough tank for a grouper - I love them!
