ok the bathroom sink (which is where im going to have my ro/di system at is about 15-20 feet away from my tank.
in this case would it be better to just have a top off tank next to my reef tank im setting up.

or could i run a hose from the ro/di system with a ATO on it to the tank

    i have a MAXCAP RO/DI SYSTEM
with a aquatec 8800 booster pump on it.

i only ask casue im still setting up and want to know before i make plans for a reservoir tank with a pump for my ATO

I just use an old IO bucket under the tank and run a water line to the tank when I need to add water. It last about a week before I have to add to my bucket.

I wouldnt use the RO unit to do the ATO. Simply because if one of your float valves gets stuck on while your gone your going to have a huge flood and your salinity is going to be way off.

Never hook a RO/DI directly to the sump. Always fill an ATO reservoir so you have a limited supply of RO/DI to flood the system in case of a failure.

If you plan to hook the MaxCap to the ATO you will also need an Autoshutoff valve, ASOV to shut off the treated and the waste flows when the ATO reservoir is full, otherwise you will need to control it manually which kind of defeats the whole idea of AUTO.
