please id this stuff

I get this brown dirt like stuff on my rocks and i have no idea what it is.
i also have these green bubble things sprouting up and i don't know what they are either.
I just did my water tests so here they are:
nitrite 0.1
pH 8.4
KH 13
calcium 420 ppm
ammonia 0
nitrate 0
magnesium either way too high or the test was wrong but the test said 1700 ppm

Looks like you have a diatom bloom and a bit of Bubble Algae. I also see some apstasia in your first pic.

Ya looks like Diatoms and Volona or Bubble algae.

Odd looking sand never seen it that round

i was thinking the same thing, i've never seen sand like that, what kind do you use?

 

sand looks like that ice cream that comes in little balls. im sure it doesnt tast like it though

 

dippin dots! i go to college with the kid who's dad invented that stuff. Its delish.

 

i use the red sea substrate. i bought the starter pack when i bought the red sea max aquarium. i think its that new sodium chloride flavor, i'm not a big fan of it.
My lights only have a month or two left so i'm gonna get some new ones and i hope that will take care of it. i also went to the lfs today and bought five blue leg hermits so we'll see how it goes. thanks guys.
