hello. i have a small aquarium and a big problem. ever since i got my goldfish i have been giving it all of the best: the water in my house is a very high-quality filtered water, good food regular maintenance and so on... up until recently my gold fish has been exploding with energy. every time i went to look at it it would swim right nextto the glass and i would make kissing sounds and the gf would swim around happily...recently my mom got me some two fish (much smaller than the goldfish) without telling me. when i come home i had no choice but to let themin the aquarium. and here is my problem: the goldf's personality changed 180*. first it started to get agressive and bullied the two other fish and now it swims (or rather floats) inside this live plant and when i look at it and make kissing motions it agressively swims to the other side of the aq. to make a long story short (too late), not the biology but rather the psychology of the fish concerns me. should i take the 2 fish out and givem them to someone or is this just a phase.....any response will be much apprechiated..

what you are going to want to do is get IO salt mix, a skimmer, some sand and rocks and a good light. after the cycles is over, start with some easy fish like damsels.

In the mean time get a bigger tank for the goldfish and stop looking at him when you feed him, do it ninja style and it will be normal when you are near it.

You said it was a small tank---basically that was his tank, and you made him share it with 2 other fish. They (most fish) are very territorial once established. (Just ask my yellow tang). I have 5 freshwater also. I would remove the new ones and take them back. What kind of fish are they?-They may be picking on him. Goldfish are very slow swimmers. They are pretty defenseless against say a barb or something similar. If the other two are tropical, they dont belong with goldfish anyway. Hope this helps.

    welcome to 3 reef Marcin

Get a larger tank and all 3 can live in relative harmony
or if you have a garden a nice pond would be even better IMO
