My tank is still early in the cycle process, but I continue to find new things that amaze me!:biggrinbo

I think this plant stuff was on the rock when I got it. Is it hair algae?

    CLAM?

I saw this thing the other night, never saw it before! It is in the middle of the pic. I think it is a clam! It was definitely moving (slowly) with its tongue? Do clams use their tongue to move? I could definitely be wrong since it is so tiny. When I checked the next morning it is gone again, and I can't find it. I assume it is pissed off about the rising ammonia levels. If it is a clam do you think it will last through the cycle?

Thanks again for all the help!!!

if it is a clam, its not the clam your thinking of (blue maximas....etc) but probably a small bivalve. but you said it moved? thats weird

    It's not a tongue, it's a foot. And yes, they'll move around!

SushiGirl's is in a whole different family (and superfamily), but yes, the ark clams can and do crawl. Those are pretty tough, so it might make it through the cycle alive. It's probably hunting a better hiding place.

    Cheers,

that first pic, are those all white?

I forget what they're called but they are some type of small macroalgae.

They won't grow in the light. You said it was already there? That was most likely the 'bottom' of the rock in the tank it came from. They'll die off in the light. Not a big deal - they absorb some nutrients and don't get big.

I tend to see more of them in low flow areas of the tank too.
