I had like 6 or 7 Peppermint shrimp in there and I think he ate them all! They were fine for about a year and then I added that sucker about 2 months ago and I have been looking for them for the last month... and nothing. The LFS told me RG are reef safe too!
Is this what happened or could it have been something else?

What else is in the tank? I couldn't imagine a royal gramma doing that...

they can hide verywell if a new fish is put in the tank, they will come out to feed at night, try feeding them after the lights fo out.

Very true.. They will hang in the oddest of places... After they feel that they won't get eaten, they will start coming out again.. K+

hmm. Nothing else since last year added when I would always see them. I did move the pumps around the same time as I added the Gramma.
In the tank are: Yellow Tang, Six Line, 3 Yellow Tail Damsels, 2 Percula, Gramma.

The six-line wrasse would be the most likely culprit if you have no other crustaceans, but as proreefer stated, the shrimp are also very good at hiding after new additions or changes to the tank.

I really have been looking like crazy.. still nothing. I mean, I had about 7 of them!
Usually they would crawl out when I would feed and I starting noticing they weren't out anymore... that's when I starting investigating.

Contrary to popular belief's, Royal Gramma's will eat shrimp. I've personally witnessed the one in my 92 eat a live Peppermint Shrimp that I added as he sank to the bottom. He swam around with the shrimp's antennae hanging out of his mouth until it was either digested, or the shrimp was dead so it could be eaten in bits. If it's small enough to fit in his mouth, he'll eat it. I also experienced a complete wipe-out of my Peppermint's once the Royal Gramma was added. Just in the last month, I've added 10 from F&S and only a few of the larger Peppermint's hanging out under a hammer, still exist. I have a Royal Gramma in the 150 as well, and have experienced this scenario within both tanks. I appreciate his coloration, but I'm considering removing mine as well.

I have suspected my rg of eating shrimp as well. It certainly seems like the only fish with a big enough mouth and the ability to traverse the caves they hide in. Another member on here actually saw his rg snacking on one.
