    I use a cheap spiral 5500K bulb. 14w I think. Grows the chaeto and mangroves great. I also only use tap water so that probably contributes to the growth.

    Haha, yea. I dont recommend using tap water, but it works for me. A few years ago when I didn't know any better I used it to fill the tank and it's never given me a problem. So I've always used it for top off and WC's over the years. Cheap and always readily available ;D.

    If it works and your not showing any negative effects I dont see a problem with it. Some people are just lucky i guess :) I wouldnt chance it now that I know what negative effects can be. On the other hand if I had always done it and nothing was wrong I wouldnt change either.
