Thanks and no they do not replace GFCI. They are all plug in to separate circuit with 20amp GFCI breaker.

I'm looking at doing something like this, and hanging it on the wall next to my tank:

Thanks, I drew it up during my lunch break yesterday. Perhaps I'll make a build thread about it soon, when I get around to ordering the parts. However, I may be waiting until EcoTech releases their new LED, to see if it has a stand alone controller, since I am planning on picking one up in the next 4-5 months. If you have access to CAD software, I'd be happy to send you the file.

you did a good job drawing that up, looks real in the pic.
you did give me a idea though now. i could probably make something like that out of acrylic.

Looks awesome.. but what's the point? I mean.. when you have the apex, you never touch the vortech controllers again.. why make them visible? Really, you hardly ever go to the display.. Hide all of it and play on your tablet/computer. I haven't touched my display since initial set up.

Real estate in my stand comes at a premium. Accounting for future equipment additions, I'm not sure I have any room inside to put the VorTech controllers, unless I cram them in a completely unaccessible location. Even the back side of my stand is full (ATO reservoir, ATO pump and filter, lighting ballast, lots of plumbing). Other than that, there is no real point, aside from aesthetics.

Plus, I like to see what is going on in my tank, even if I am not actively making adjustments. Engineer's OCD, I guess.
