Was it the controller that was in error?

Coralline, It was my medusa controller that is used ONLY for temperature control. appearantly the cable and plug are very sensitive and when I was doing some work on the sump, I messed with it too much. I thought it was reading correctly but it was a false reading. when My RKE temp started reading differently, It had me scratching my head. but since the medusa has been so rock solid, I figured the RKE was out of whack so I re-calibrated it to the medusa. I monitored it and its readings were ALL OVER THE PLACE! so I re-calibrated it several more times. I dont have a third digital thermometer to test it with (the medical ones for the ears dont work). then I got to thinking maybe the medusa was messed up. so I took it out and tested it to my temp (yes under my tongue!) sure enough it was wrong. Ugh, but whenever I touched the wire by the plug on it, it would act very eradically. UGH.. well finally,I got it settled properly after opeining up the box and everything. Lordy mercy!!! it just took alot of very close monitoring and I think I have it where it needs to be. the RKE is now matching up perfectly with it. and from looking at the last months worth of graph the highest point is 78.8 and the lowest is 77.8. the tank hits each of these two temps about 5 times a day each.

Now, the reason for 2 controllers is that my heaters and chiller are in the garage where the sump is. the RKE is only inside and I need to purchase another PC4 and a 30' cable to bring this function under the RKE control.

ON TOP of all that, the big heater I bought last year, a FINNEX 500 watt unit with a built in controller quit working on me. would not kick on! GRRR.. so I bought another 500 watt one without a controller. I should have done that a long time ago but worried about what if somethign got stuck on. ANYWAYS, I was using this 500, a 300 glass unit and a 200watt titanium. I took the bad unit and cut the controller off it and spliced the plug back on. LOW AND BEHOLD the heater works. SWEET. so I yanked the 300 and the 200 and they are now spares. I am using both 500's now and they can bring up the water 1 full degree in about an hour and 1/2 with the garage in the 40's and the house set at 68. Remember I have LED's so I dont get any heat gain off those.

Lol. Yes I was freaking because all temp control was left to the Medusa since the rke is inside the house as it controls the lighting. Hopefully here soon I can get another pc4.
