Well... the first one didn't make it. Was gone within a week. Something bad happened the first night and from that point in he never left the corner. Oh well.

Ordered my first fish off the internet this past week however. This big guy along with a pair of peppermint shrimps came in Friday. My wife did an excellent job acclimating them.

My Atlantic blue tang was a bit Unglued last night to this one (never paid attention to the other smaller one) and it was tense. Even with moonlights on. Lots of chasing and posturing. But a complete dark out must have helped. New cbb while still relegated to one particular end of the tank seems to be fatter and much more intent on hunting for meaty morsels in the rocks near him. I placed a small mirror on the far end. I plan to get a bigger one tomorrow. It really seems to help.

Hopefully soon a taste for aptasia is developed. I have plenty for him to eat.

merely distraction. a territorial fish will see another of its kind and devote more attention to asserting dominance over his twin than a new fish. Sort of mad that I didnt think of it sooner. I just bought a cheap locker mirror. its round.

its actually quite funny to watch them interact with it. The 6 line twitches and the tank just expands and darts at it. Naso just stares at it and turns dark.

I see you finally got your pyramids. I had three of them and all were eating everything, then they all just disappeared. Congrats on the newbies.

Ok, now an update to the tank.

    1. Lost the CBB. one day after we got back from a short vacation after thanksgiving, he just decided to go on hunger strike. he had eaten most of the aptasia in the tank. unfortunately, there are still a few lingering aruond that are now HUGE! once the weather gets warmer ill order another and see how it goes.

    2. Montipora Digitata and Merlunia DO NOT LIKE ULNS type systems. I have good lights, pristine water and they dont do so well.

    3. I do have AEFW in my tank. I feel like such a leper. but we are dealing with it by dipping infected and suspected infected colonies in Bayer every 2 weeks or less. I am seeing a reduction in the numbers but WOW. hard work. there are two rocks with corals that I have to dip because I dont want to frag them off. yea, I kill lots of starfish in the process, but I have 1000's

    4. Even with redundant temperature probes and controllers, some things can get out of whack. I had a temp dip to about 74 degrees a few weeks ago. something was just not right. finally, I got it figured out and we got it working
