Nice fish, I had one years ago in a previous system...had to do the same thing for the same reasons....you did the right thing. Nice tank by the way.

Thanks Map. he was delivered to the new owner today. he has an 8 foot prop tank all to his self. looked like a very happy camper when I left.

Tonight, I made a big step in my tank. I took my EcoBak offline. I have been battling Cyano for several months that seem to trace back to its introduction. hopefully this is the culprit.. I have been thru every scenario possible...

I have been battling it since sometime after July 1st. only in the last month has it become increasingly strong.

Removing the pellets were not good. did soem figuring and the phosphates went up to .13 from.03ppm.

So I been thinking. I need a better pellet reactor. the BRS one just isnt cutting it. at all. period.

it was barely even moving the pellets let alone tumbling them. this may have led to the fact that I was unable to process the phosphates.

So I bought one. $55 from Avast Marine. you get all the pieces machined and ready to go.

Hey Pickup, those pellet aren't moving fast enough. What is the gph pump you have on them?

Bruh, they are hooked to my main system. I can blow them thru the mesh if I want to. im trying to get the flow dialed in. they are fed off the main line with 1/2" ID tubing.

they are hooked to a 4600GPH pump. LOL>

they werent moving even this much in the other reactor.

WOW.. Well I would say to be careful then. But if you could get them moving faster the better and your levels will improve. But I am sure you know this already. I had a 500+ gph on mine in a TLF 550 and the central part wasn't big enough to do the flow and I bought the Next Reef MR1 XL because it was wider in the center. Then I found out if i used a 700+ gph pump I would get better results and sho nuff my nitrates and phosphates both dropped.

Odd. I read so many different things on these. Jon Warner says the more they tumble the more agressive the product will be. I still have ZERO testable nitrates in the system. even when I took them offline for a week's time. Phosphate is my issue. I am running GFO now to pull it down slowly.

but I can tumble them as fast as I want now. with the BRS, I could barely get them to move. this reactor is well built. the flow in the downtube is plenty for them. I had a few escape and are really rumbling down in the bottom. its funny to watch them pingpong downthere.

I always ran gfo with mine. I couldn't get the balance right. To complicated. First they said i needed to feed more to feed the phosphates, then feed less to control the nitrates. So I went with my normal regiment.
