SO< an opportunity has arisen for me to be able to purchase back one of the fish from my 75. the Tomini tang. this was a very healthy fat fishy when I sold it in april. it is on its second owner since, but he is downsizing from his 140 into a nano. the fish is about 4" or so and has been housed with the purple tang from my 75 as well. Now to decide, do I risk putting that fish in with my current purple tang (butthead) or let him go to another owner? as photos show, I have TONS of room in the 180 and lots of smaller caves for the tomini to hide in. I know I will have a small war for a day or three to deal with. is it worth the risk to get back a fish I had for years? I so want the purple too, but I dont want WW3 in my tank between that one and the large one I have already.

    thoughts?

You should be good since you don't have any ctenochaetus species in your tank. But since you have a purple and sohal in already, you might have an issue since they are gluteus maximus holes.

    Feels like wasted money

well, the 2nd female has bit the dust. I havent seen her all day and cannot find a carcass. the male is doing ok I guess. comes out when the actinics are on, but hides mostly in the halides. guess they are too much. hopefully he will get better and will thrive in the tank. otherwise, ill just hold out for lyretails or bartlets....

I also did some light testing today and im getting excellent par readings out of the cheap bulbs. they tested at 300 par at 8" below the surface.

while I am on the way up from things, I do have some issues. the large birdsnest and the stylopora continue to slowly lose tissue. I dipped the birdsnest today and only had pods come off it. puzzling. several others in my local club are experiencing the same thing. just mysterious dieoff. some of even expensive corals.

I encourage everyone to make sure you trade off frags of your prized corals. having a "coral bank" will pay off in the long run.
