Thanks Yamaha! Good news tonight. All the agression from teh purple tang has vanished and they all get along quite well. the new fish is out front and center NON stop and ate like a piggy when I fed some home made frozen fish mush.

    great looking butterfly pickupman

    safe with all corals?
Ive seen them at LFS where I am but always walked right past, assuming they would peck at something or other?

Supposed to be plankton feeders so they are safe for all. I did read they may nip at Xenia if they are not fed properly. It ate a little flake yesterday but as of now loves the home made frozen food. I hope to add two more eventually.

    OK,

so while i was staring at the tank, I noticed that my snails had babies. tons of tine blue and white specs on teh glass. they sorta waver in the current so I think they are baby cerinths.

Now, I also notice a flat worm of sorts on teh glass. there are a bunch of them, not venturing too far from the sand. they are a very light cream white and sorta remind me of casper the ghost.

this is the closest photo I can match to them and its from Wet Web Media. they are said to be harmless from that site.

Either way, looks like its time to actually get that wrasse. now will it be a run of the mill 6 line or something a bit more exotic.

Edit: you think a Mandarin would eat them? I have plenty of pods otherwise.

So far so good. the previous owner of the tank had some and I know ive seen them in several full blown tanks. from what I have seen since I got it, all ti cares about is what is in the water column. it plays in the current and is basically front and center all the time. I havent seen it even look at the rocks let alone a coral. It is getting accustomed to feeding but when i fed flake, it took several pieces in but spit them out. must not be quite ready for them. I was going to start the transition to flake now, sorta force him to eat it or go hungry but I decided it is best to fatten him up a bit more on the frozen mix. he is pigging out on that so far, so it wont be too long. the other fatties in the tank seem to enjoy the special food every night.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
With regard to the FW do you have any wrasses? I wonder what is keeping their numbers in check. The cream or clear one you posted the picture of are much more tolerable that the other varities.

Nope, no wrasses yet. the flatworms just appeared recently. from everything I can tell, there arent any issues with my acro's and them. I plan to pull out a rock with some on it to take a good look.
