Well guys I'm in the planning stages.

So this is where I come up with an idea ... and then need you guys to find the flaws in it.

Some get offended ... I feed off of it.

How can this be made better ... what am I doing wrong

    Here it is:

The tank is a 150 gallon (5x2x2) and the sump is the same size and dimensions in the fish room.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

The fuge is ahead of the skimmer. That is where it should be. Always want to give the macro's first crack at the dirty water. I don't see the need for the double wall and bubble trap before and after the fuge though.

IMO you'll need some extra flow in the return area if you plan on growing coral out in it. A sump with flow high enough to keep corals clean of junk kind of defeats the purpose of a fuge in which you really don't want anymore than 10x turnover. The slower the water moves, the more contact time macros have with it and do a better job of removing excess nutrients. Same goe for the skimmer.

The extra baffles between fuge and skimmer section is a good catch. Your right, no need for bubble trap there. Thanks for catching that

And the extra flow will come via an Vortech MP10 in the frag section of the sump. Normally I'd like to keep my frag tank separate but really like the idea of having the exact same parameters as the main tank.

It'll be the same lighting as well for the frag section.
