So the mollies just aren't surviving in the tank. It seems that there is not enough oxygen so there constantly stopping to breath and its also the fact that I have them in fresh water, so I'm just going to get guppies and stick with them in the tank. I checked my pH in the tank yesterday after buying a pH test kit for freshwater in my LFS, it appeared that the pH was around 7.5-8.0 is this ok for guppies? or should it be a lot lower!?

    Thanks for your help
    Conor.

Actually, guppies will thrive in a PH range of 6.5 - 8.0. However, I have to question your water source. Pure, clean freshwater PH should be on the lower end of that range. Given that you can't keep mollies alive, it sounds like you've got some serious impurities that's doing more than just raising your PH. In my own personal experience with freshwater, mollies are just as hardy as guppies.

    Cheers

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say chlorinated or flouridated water is your problem.
