Ideally, the perfect water parameters for a reef tank would be...

    Specific Gravity/Salinity - 1.024-1.026 (1.0265 is natural sea water) or 25-36 PPT
    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate - 0-5
    Phosphate - 0
    Calcium - 420-450
    Alkalinity - 9 DKH
    Magnesium - 1320

But remember this is an average. Nitrates and nitrates are difficult to get that low and you will almost never reach "absolute zero." But don't worry too much. SPS like ULNS while soft corals like the water to be a little "dirty" LPS can go either way. It sort of depends.

    perfect parameters
would be 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and Nitrates 0 on test kits perfect for SPS , but softies are fine and in fact probably better in tanks with some Nitrate

PH - 8.3 but some tanks run perfectly with 7.8 or higher

    Calcium - 380 - 450 ideal range
    dkh - 7 - 11 ideal range
    Magnesium - 1380 - 1450 ideal range

Phosphate - 0 on hobbyist test kits
