In my 46 I have a Green Spotted Puffer who's about 3-3.5" and a Randall's Pistol Shrimp who's about 1.25" I think as I've yet to see all of it it may be a bit bigger.

So far the puffer has been good with the inverts, has seen snails (even ones on thier backs) but passes them by and has seen the shrimp and swims on by (could be due to the goby beside it, though)

I'd like to get a peppermint shrimp in hopes of it controlling new apastia that pop up after I get the ones I see killed. Yeah I know i'ts possible that it might not eat it but I figure it's worth a try...or I can catch tho one form the nano (good luck there) which I know eats it as the few that were left in there or had popped up are gone after having added the shrimp.

I've seen video of a pistol shrimp taking out a cleaner shrimp so I don't think I'll be getting a cleaner shrimp (would be cool)....don't know if they have a taste for peppermints though

Do you think the peppermint stands a chance in this tank?

I could always chance it and hope one of those two don't eat better than I that night. :-/

There's no difference between a cleaner shrimp and a peppermint shrimp to a pistol shrimp...

If you do add the peps turn your lights off and give them some time to hide.Any time I added shrimp to the tank with lights on my triggers made very quick work of them but they almost all survived when I turned the lights off.

i got one for my GSP tank about 6 months ago. The shrimp didn't even hit the sand.

I added him an hour or so after feeding, hoping that the fish would be full enough not to bother the shrimp but I was wrong! If you want, you can try adding him with the lights off, however I think that eventually the little guy will be food.

Yeah I think the pistol is more of a threat than the puffer.
Spot (the GSP) liked FW ghost shrimp took him about month or more to go through 8 shrimp and he ate FW snails, but since he went full SW he hasn't touched snails and so far hasn't made a move for the pistol (though the pistol is armed :rifle:(hehehehe)
