Just an update on the chiller . I started out almost three years ago to build a ( 70 ) watt peltier junction aquarium chiller that actually worked . Well it's been ten different prototypes and many thousands of dollars more than I ever expected BUT !
The latest chiller dropped a 35 gallon tank over night 5 degrees F. This tank is almost naked , some gravel and a large dead coral skeleton that's it.
I hooked up the chiller at 10 :00 p.m. and at 9:00 A.M. the tank had dropped 5 degrees .
The chiller is competely solid state no freon . I hope to bring it to market in the spring just in time for summer.
The chiller has a seperate power supply that is fan cooled and produces up to 150 watts . The power supply is really oversized and should run really cool and for a very long time . I have had the power supply built just for this purpose. It's 15 vdc not the typical 12 vdc .
The Pletier junction is a 70 watt wafer and is rated ,as are most at 15 volts dc .
The heat sink is also way over rated so the unit is extremely efficent and powerful .
I pretty much dare any other ( 70 ) watt Peltier to challenge this new unit .
I will keep you informed .

Can you give dimensions and installation /placement for your chiller? like will it fit under the stand? I am curious as to what it will do with my 90 and the future 125 and 180 in the works. I am sure i am not the only one that will ask but if you need a beta tester it is a sidenote to this hobby that I enjoy and can provide previous records and such if you decide you want to field test this equipment.

A 70w wafer, nice one!!! Coolworks beware (BTW thanks for the test units Coolworks, good show). Was that a 5 degree drop from ambient room temp? For controlling it, are you using your own, or are farming that out(OEM)?

I was thinking it's to bad that betta 's are fresh water , they would be the ultimate betta tester .

    Small joke very small !
Yes we sold a unit called thermocline that did basically nothing . I think it was actually a coolworks with a different name .
It was the cost and performance of those units that drove me to build our own .
Everything on this unit is built to our design all custom make molds and extrusions . The only stock parts are the fan , the peltier and power cord .
I will release several prior to the official offering .Just to test the instructions and packaging .

So you built your own controller or does it include one? And the 5 degree pull down, was that below ambient room temp? Sorry, I'm real interested in this and actually have another company that may want to purchase your chillers to go along with their complete system packages for mini reefs (up tp 50g complete set-up, reef backing and all). I tested Coolworks on a few with it really only working well for the 10g model, and as you mentioned, the cost was WAY to high to consider to be apart of any affordable set-ups.
