Looking for others recommendations on what video card to look at getting.

I had 2 8800gtx graphics cards but on has just failed and putting them in the oven in getting tiring. My computer is old now but my specs are:

    Q6600 quad core
    EVGA 680i Sli motherboard
    Raptor X HD
    4gb G skill ram
    750w power supply

Here's my problem I only have $100-150 the spend, I was looking at a 550Ti or a used 460 and try and use my remaining 8800 for physx.

Any reason you wanna stick with nvidia? No saying amd is better but if your strapped for cash or have a budget nvidia is generally more expensive...well is more expensive. I run dual xfx 6870s. When I had just one every game I played ran very well. I have heard of ways you could still run an nvidia as a physics card with and ati/amd but I forget where I saw it.

You can run ati just not dual atis in crossfire. I just read a little and you can make the nvidia a physics card but you'll have to do a little research on getting it to work.

Yeah my system is old now, the card does not have to be Nvidia but I was going to use the 8800 I have left for physx. However I have been told if I add a 460 and the 8800 My cpu will bottleneck my system.

I was looking at the Radeon 6850 seem like a decent card. I will buy used if I have to, BF3 runs ok at about 30fps but that's on low and the game just doesn't look good.

I am in a similar predicament. My GFX card is better but still DX10. My Mobo is of similar vintage. I don't know if I want to upgrade to a i-Series CPU and DDR3 or just upgrade the GFX for now. Can only afford one right now.
