Params Question

I have mostly a 46 g FOWLR, but with some Mushrooms and 1 Anemone that is hanging on by a thread.

I was wondering if Ca and Mg can be too high ?
Currently mine are at;
Ca - 520
Mg - 1500


Other numbers are;
Temp - 78
Sg - 1.024
PH - 8.3
Alk - 2.8
KH - 12
Am - .1
N2 - .2
N3 - 10

Any need for me to worry or performa any immediate maintenance with these numbers or am I ok ?

I would be worried about these numbers. Ammonia should never go above Zero. Same with Nitrites.

How old is the tank?

The Mg and Ca are little high for not having any type of LPS or SPS. How long has thins tank be running? Get some carbon and run it and test in 24 hours. What type of salt are using? Are you adding anything else to the water? Also I would do a small water change like 5 or 10%

 

Tank is a 1 month old relocation. I took all the Live rock and fish from the original that was close to a year old. I started with new water and new live sand.

I did a 10% change a week ago and could do another soon.

I started seeing that the inverts and coral type stuff required higer ca and Sg so I have been trying to slowly increase. All I did was add an extra cup of Red Sea Coral Pro Salt a couple of times over the last week.

Even with a relocation you can have a small cycle. Really is not need to have your calcium higher than 450 and mag can be around 1250 and things will be fine. Start running some carbon and do another small water change. Might even help to fed little lighter than normal. I would test every day for the next few days to keep an eye on everything.

 

Calcium is a bit high because the alk is at half the strength it should be

 

I agree, bring your alk up a little and it should level out. Having said this, you shouldnt be worried about Cal, alk or mag at this point, you still havent finished with your cycle yet. I would be worried about NH3/4, No2 and No3 for now.

The redsea test says 2.8 is normal. What reading should I be shooting for ? Is the KH test the same as my ALK test ? I know I can get the PH to 8.3 and Alk up by adding my 8.3 buffer but I havn't been adding as I thought they were OK.

I know the Am, and N2, N3 arn't perfect yet and I am working on those. I'm not sure why the Ca and Mg jumped so high, bu I was more wondering if it was a dangerouse level for immediate action or can it ride till the weekend.
