I've been getting millions of micro bubbles in my main tank. I figured out that it was a combination of the water entering my sump from my overflow hoses was causing turbulation and a large amount of bubbles. I also noticed that the outputs on my skimmer were also casing bubbles. So following the advice of some others from this board I bought myself some panty hose lastnight with the help from my fiance.......so I wasn't just a guy in the panty hose department picking a pair out. I attached them to the overflow hoses and the outputs of my skimmer and baaaam, no more bubbles in my sump, thus no bubbles in the main tank.

OH thank you panty hose!!!! ;D

Good news! Rinse often to avoid clogging/nitrates.

Yup.....I've added that to the maintenance schedule. It's amazing how much clearer the tank looks without all the bubbles.

They are size C and skin color I guess its called. I tried to find white, but couldn't.

Funny the pack had a chart that mapped the size to the weight of the person and the weights were all in Kilograms. Do all women know the conversion from KG to Pounds. lol

That's a new one on me. I'll have to go look. Its always been in lbs before.

I'm glad the panty hose took care of your situation. They seem to be good for a lot of things.

Panty hose also help to do a little sand transfer from one tank to another in case you don't want to mix two different kinds of sand permanently. :)

In your situation, micron filter 'socks' are also available from the lfs as another option. More expensive than panty hose though.

    Matt,
I was looking at the micron socks, they are a little nicer to look at in the sump, but I wasn't sure it would solve the problem. I wonder which would perform better the micron sock or the nylon panty hose?
