I had what I believe was an Oyster buried under Zoanthid colony in my reef
it lived on what it found in the water plus supplements I added for the corals and I had it for about 9 months before the tank was broken down

    it went from this

to this yet was still able to open and syphon etc

From what gathered in reading oysters are actually the best choice of bi-valves. They arent as light demanding like clams, and by far less demanding of water quality than scallops. The only concern with them is getting one that comes from a area where water temperature is close to what we keep in our tanks as alot of them come from colder water areas.
