I have a 150 gallon reef tank. I just got my hands on an Eshopps S300 Skimmer. It says its good for 200-300 gallons. Am I stupid to put it on my tank? Eventually I will be going to a much bigger tank than I have now and this skimmer is awesome. I just took it out of the box and its big so I guess I am a little scared to hook it up.

I run one rated for +100 gallons on my 55. I don't think double is too much so you should definitely use it.

FWIW, I'm running one rated for 90g on a 29 with no issues. Works perfectly fine. :)

It won't pull skimmate any faster (that's limited to your waste), it will just be less efficient.
