    another newb question.

I am trying to figure out the best way to install my overflow to my sump in my 90g glass aquarium. I know the obvious way is to drill the tank and install a bulk head, but I would really like to avoid drilling the tank if possible.

What is the best way to use a sump without drilling the tank? and is it worth doing it this way or should I just bite the bullet and drill the tank?

    thanks again
    Josh

drilling the tank is the most often chosen course of action
but for people who do not want to do that
there are overflow kits that hang on side of tank and then take water to sump

CPR AQUATIC, INC - CS Overflows

CPR is one such brand of this type of product - see link above

Drill! It is very easy to do & there are fewer worries with an internal overflow such as glass-holes.

+1 for glass-holes. Great product, excellent customer service. My overflow is super quiet.

If you go with a HOB overflow, get a classic u-tube style. The CPR overflows are not reliable IMO. Even with the aqualifter pump, the siphon is prone to breaking which could cause your tank to over flow. Classic u-tube style overflows are fairly reliable if you have the flow fast enough to push bubbles out of the siphon.

Eshopps makes a nice cheap one. It's noisy but can be modified to run quietly.
