hey i was wondering if you guys would be able to help me out. i started filling my tank with ro/di water for the past 5 days and when the water got above the overflow box problems started to happen. it is an internal overflow box (6"x6"x2") with two 1" bulkheads. water slowly filled up in the bottem half of overflow box and drained into the sump. so when i woke up the next morning the water level in the tank was at the same level of the bulkheads. Now how should i fix this? add a second gaskets between the overflow box and the bulkhead screws?
    thanks for any help
    Jake

There is nothing wrong as long as you have no water on the floor. That is how it should be working. The level will go a little higher when you start running your return pump.

The water level should not drop any more than the teeth of your overflow or the anti-siphon holes in your return. Make your anti-siphon holes 1/8" in diameter or slightly more and place them no lower than the bottom of the teeth of your overflow.

sorry i explained it poorly. the water didnt get up to the teeth and water was somehow slowly getting in the overflow box. so there has to be some leak in the box.

Ah OK, who manufactured the overflow?

I think you should drain it, and reseal it, or hit up the manufacturer/retailer and get a new tank. You can't have possibly known the overflow was broken.

tx holey rocks overflow kit. theres a left, right, front, bottem and back walls to the overflow box which leads me to believe that its water slipping through the holes for the bulkheads in the back of the overflow box which is THEN going through the drain pipes. so if i test the overflow box when i pull it out and it is not leaking should i just put gaskets inbetween the overflow box and the bulkhead screws? sorry if this is confusing

Is this the way you have it setup, with the gasket at the red arrow?

I think there should be 2 gaskets on each bulkhead for this setup, with one at the black arrow and the other at the red arrow. The black arrow one keeps water from making it to the floor, and the inside one keeps water from leaking into the overflow box.

OK remove the box and check for holes, and then check the bulkheads and the box for any plastic burrs, remove them then check to see if you have a good seal. Since you did not answer my question about water on the floor I am taking it there is none and none leaking sown the back of the tank. I have one of those and that is what I would look for. If everything is good with the bulkheads and box then try a second seal where there is none.
