    Hi!

I was wondering if an eshopps pf-300 or an 800 would be preferred for an overflow this size (55G DT). And what return pump and rate would you bilaterally recommend?

according to eshopps the 300 is for a 75 gallon and the 800 is for a 100 gallon tank I would use the bigger myself but its your decesion to make you have to decide how much flow you want and wether your using wet/dry or fuge and how many power heads you plan to use the return pump should be slightly lower flow rate than pf and don't forget about head pressure (thats how far the return pump has to pump the water back to DT) hope this helped

I actually have the 800 on my 55 DT, I use a Rio 2100 return pump.

I drilled my tank for 2 inch and a half overflows , one on each side of the tank and use a Mag12 for my return. I can run it open with no restriction and my overflows have no problem keeping up.

I am running the 800 on my 90 gallon with a Mag 7 pump for return. Using a ball valve to slow the return down just a bit and running smooth as can be. No noise or gurgling.
