hey guys... I got accepted to texas A&M ! :D

i was planning on transfering this fall. the problem is that Financial aid only gives you a certain amount of student loans plus the pell grant.

however the amount that texas asks for is higher than what ive been awarded. Im assuming many people have dealt with this problem.. so the question is..

how do people pay for out of state tuition when their parents cant help you much?

ive heard that people pay college mainly through loans. well... where can i get this extra loans that everyone talks about?

does this mean i have to give up going to texas?:-/

    Congrats!!!

There are a lot of places to get loans. Government loans are best. I didn't use any student loans, so I'm not sure of all the logistics. I just know that there are a lot of options out there.

I think you should speak with a guidance counselor at your current school. Or even contact one at Texas A&M. They will be able to help you!

Govt backed student loans. You apply for them in your schools Financial Aid office.

I had no savings for college, no help from parents, not pell grants, no scholarships. It was completely paid for by loans.

You can call T A&M's FA office and ask them how and when you need to apply. You are basically guaranteed acceptance. Sometimes, your parents will need to co-sign for your application, but not always.

I would stay away from private student loans. +1 to talking to a guidance counselor.

A part-time job might be necessary to help pay the bills.

Just curious what does Texas A&M have that schools instate don't have?

well, texas A&M is a more prestigious school. however what really called my attention is that they have a Pre-med program with IAU medical school. This means that i will get accepted to that medical school without taking the MCAT and or other tests to get into it as long as i have a 3.4GPA ( which is doable for me). They are a school credited to every state in the US, so when i get my licence, i will be able to practice on every state of the US, not just from where i graduated.
Texas is the only university that has this type of agreement with said medical school, and this year is their last one before they require the MCAT.

I really want to go to texas, thats why im willing to use loans to get my education there.. I just dont know where i can get all my loans from, im trying to stay away from private loans.

FAFSA gives me a pell grant and a limited amount of loans. Out of state tuition is higher than that, so i needed other options. Im looking into some scholarships and hope i get some, plus the loans.

My parents cant and wont be able to help me. Not sure if they will co sign for loans, maybe they will. im on my own for this one but im determined to get my education. any help and pointers will be of great help
