I have gotten tired of calling various stores around my area for chalk bass so far I have been able to find 2 and another one at a store over an hour away. Since I am looking for 5 this is rather annoying. So I am thinking of ordering them online from vivid aquariums. Are they a good dealer? What do I need to know about shipping fish and how much will shipping cost?

Not sure about the shipping cost, but they are a very good online store.

    shipping fish.....
make sure the seller provides a "not DOA guarantee" like drfoster and smith. Shipping usually cost $35 because they have to overnight it to you and water is heavy. Best to go in on a group buy so you don't have to get stuck with all the shipping. Never bought from vivid aquariums.

I have had better success ordering from online places close to me than far off, even with overnight shipping, so I try to order from close by.

I have ordered corals from them twice each time, everything survived. I haven't ordered fish though. However, they do pack things very nicely and my package has always arrived by 10am the next day, and I live on the east coast.

Exactly the same here - I've ordered corals from them twice, but no fish. Excellent quality and packaging, and great customer service!

Has anyone ordered fish from liveaquaria.com (dr. foster and smith's store)? They have some tank raised varieties that I can't find at any of my local stores.
