Opinions on new fish PLEASE

    Ok..bought a sailfin tang today...should i toss him in my QT tank? I have a 55g QT that is cycled and bare, except the large amounts of PVC for hiding and the 2 damsels I always have in there...right now it doesnt have any copper in it because my ich problem has been solved for over a month now..but i'm thinking of treating the Sailfin with some copper just to make sure he doesnt bring anything nasty to my DT...what are your opinions?

    I have never EVER treated one of my tangs with copper. EVER. Also trying to quarantine a fish with a couple of damsels in there may be a bad idea too

    I know a lot of LFS treat their fish systems already with Copper. You could check to see if this is the case? Personally I would just monitor the tang in the QT tank and not add anything just yet

    Don't fix what isn't broken.

    Just monitor him to see if any ich pops up in the following weeks. And even then- most fish can fight it off on their own.

    Yep +1 for seeing if he develops Ich. I have a blue tang that got a bit of ich after I released him in my tank, and in a week or so with garlic seaweed he was perfect....

    Ok..he is gonna go to the QT for at least a week...ill be feeding him garlic soaked food...my Damsels are very shy, and i wont treat him with copper unless I see some ich...THANK YOU GUYS! :)
