    generally algone is for algae but it works by removing the nutrients from the water. it does not do anything to the algae other then take away its food source ;)

    Vodka dosing generally tends to take time to reduce nitrates, I don't know if one huge bloom is going to do it, you would need a very efficient way of removing the bacteria once they bloom otherwise the bacteria will just die off and decompose and release all those nutrients back into the water and you're back where you started.
    I would just do large water changes, 50-100%.
