Aww sorry I had no idea you had so much experience with nudibranch or other pest, the title of the thread confused me.

I would think you just notice more when closed up than when fully expanded,or a least I do.And no,the self fragging can take several weeks to complete if left to fall off on it's own.Sometimes they heal back up and never drop.

Deffinate possibility, but where I doubt it is her leather is not stressed nor unhappy,my mag float, when using, will make my polyps retract when not even close to them,so i'm just thinking along the lines of zoa eating nudis. When someone has them, the zoa colony is either distressed, closed up,or just keeps shrinking.I could be wrong, but mine does this often and typically just rewards me with a new frag.

No, it's not that i have experience with pests. I don't, the only pest I have ever had in my reef is aptastia, which are all gone now. Just cause I have no experience with pests doesn't mean that I can't read. I am always researching and reading articles and other posts on forums about anything reef related, including pests. The title of the post is what it is because I am NOT ruling out pests until I 100% know what's going on. I have had the tank set up for a long time and I have been looking and watching for changes constantly... during the day and at night. I probably would have seen or caught something by now. But again, not ruling out a pest! I use to have another leather closly beside the devils hand. A kenya tree. And those marks were showing up on the devils hand but not the kenya tree. I would have thought that a leather coral eating pest would be eating away at the kenya aswell. But that wasn't the case. I'm not trying to proove you wrong or anything. It sounds like your comment was a little defensive and lashed out (it's hard to tell over the internet), but I'm not trying to start anything. It's just I know how my corals react and their patterns etc etc and it being a pest doesn't quite fit exactly, but still a possibility. If I were to find a pest I would be the first one to admit that I was wrong and you were right. I'm not a stuffy person that always has to be right. I just want the best for my tank, fish, inverts and corals.

No my comment is why do I waste my time.

Logically a nudibranch evolves so it can hide, it looks like a polyp. Why would it then evolve to look like a polyp or coral if the coral retracts when being eaten?

When any member addresses a thread of mine, I always respond with respect and appreciation that that member took the time to read my thread and respond regardless of if I agreed with their response.

Simple common courtesy that has obviously become outdated.

I found a pic of another devils hand with similar marks on another forum in an old post. He got 2 frags from his devils hand. Do you have any pictures you can post of the marks on your devils hand that I could compare?? Because by the look of the marks on that other picture it looked identicle. It would really save me a lot of hasstle if it is just trying to frag itself than it being a pest! lol. I'm really hoping it's not a dang pest LOL

I completely agree! That's why I am still looking for possible pests, and researching bite marks on devils hands. I have been googling and foruming it up for a while now trying to figure out what's happening. lol. I like my devils hand and would hate for it to just be slowly eaten away! I am not trying to be rude or snarky in any way to you and I'm sorry if it has come off like that. Again, it's hard to tell over the net. I was just trying to make a reasonable and innocent argument to your first origional comment to get more information and broaden the possible reasons as to why this is happening to my devils hand! Do you know of any other pests that could possibly be causing this to my coral so i can look those up and read about them aswell? I really would like your help with a possible pest and Grinder37's help with the devils hand possibly fraggin itself. Any info on ANY possible reason this is happening is welcome!

I can kindda see it but a closer image would be better :p Is your devils hand still making those marks? Do they actually look like the ones in my picture? Any other pictures of it? I couldn't find any in google other than that one.
