    Here are those pics. The before pic doesn't really do how it looked justice. The first pic is the early stages of my "swamp." It got so bad that the only thing I could see in the tank was the sand and the rocks on the sand bed, never took a picture though.

    Glad to hear the UV worked. Whether it was bacteria or some other micro, i.e. suspended diatoms, is hard to say. In my case, I do think it was a bacterial bloom as it was exactly the same thing I have seen for the past 20+ years cycling tanks. What stumped me, however, is that there were no detectable wastes in the water both during the 'bloom' nor after all the buggers were killed off. I figured that whatever they were eating to allow them to go into such a huge population explosion would have to show somehow once the consumers were gone but, nope- nothing.

    I recently went through the same thing. Everything tested usual. Clarifier didn't work either, it eventually went away on its own. Weird.
