Those are good to have, they reduce the detritus in your tank. They also become natural food for your fish.

how old does the tank have to be in order for copepods to come out? mine is now 2 weeks old and haven't seen any, both during the day and at night. I don't have any alage except for what others have spotted in my other threads, coralline, daitmos *sp?* and a little bubble alage

They won't just pop out of nowhere, they generally show up when used LR is introduced into your tank. Basically, if you use ONLY base rock in a tank, the chances of seeing any type of pods are slim to none. If you use one piece of cultured LR to seed your tank, it will take at least a month before they evacuate the LR and repopulate. If your tank is cycling, they won't come out, they don't like ammonia or nitrites and will hide in the safety of the rock. If you only used base rock, you can seed your tank with a bottle of pods.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with them now. There's a bit of a battle royal going on for real estate on the glass between them and the hydroids at the moment. I'll snap some pics when I get outa bed.
Also I don't want to kill them, I'll hear them screaming there's that many of em.

I agree. Great for the tank. You have a good balance going on if you have that many.
