I have been hearing a bunch about moon lighting, is this just for our pleasure or does it do something for the inhabitants? I remember back in the day we were thinking about simulating moon light and cloudy simulators during the day, but thought against it because you really don't want some of your corals to shoot junk all over the tank. (That was my understanding anyway) Could someone bring me up to date on these moonlights?
    Thanks

    I think it's mostly aesthetic.
There are some with moon cycles programmed in that perhaps could trigger corals, but I suppose your main lights would have to be on a proper cycle too and I don't think many have that going on.

Moonlights can look pretty cool though. I have a dimmer switch on mine.

Actually, moonlighting has come a long way from being just for aesthetics. Inverts spawn with moon lighting, fish stress is reduced and the overall enviornment becomes more of a natural setting for you animals. I say there is more too moonlighting to just looks.

Search google for the benefits of moonlighting.

They always say that rickzter. Has that happened for you? :)
Not saying it can't, just saying I haven't heard much of that from people.

Well, although I have not confirmed it 100%. My water sometimes is cloudy at night with the moons. So, someone is pumping stuff into the water. Dunno. :worried:

Fish stress reduction I have seen for sure Matt.
