These good ole' boys might be on to something. In Southwest Georgia where I grew up, many farmers grow Bahia and Bermuda grass for hay, so they're right about having plenty of it. Now if BP could just stop the leak.....
Cool solution to clean up oil disaster. [VIDEO]

I bet your paycheck that BP and the government will most likely ignore this idea.... the two farmer boys have no Ph.D's.

I think it's a great idea that they've come up with. And also, like they say in the video, great amount of blue grass is available just in this country. Why spend millions of dollars on developing something that doesn't work, like that funnel crap they tried.

I believe this is more feasible at picking it up. The problem is, how do you stop the leak?

    Thanks for linking this here.

If they could use this that would be pretty neat. It's natural and just soaks right up. Easy cleanup.

    Sadly this is probably true..
Also how will they stop it once they have some of it cleaned up? If it isn't stopped then cleaning it up will do little while a bigger mess is still being created.:-/

because if your cleaning it up before it gets to shore your saving alot of headaches.

I think everyone is failing to grasp the whole oil in water concept. sweet crude is nothing lik burnt motor oil. If any of you actually went out into the gulf and looked at the stuff its inches think in some areas. so please tell me how hay is gonna soak it up??

And for what its worth, the hay isnt actually soaking up anything. The only thing going on is the straw is gtting coated with oil, and when you pick up the straw the oil is still stuck to it...

The house thingy is not a complete fail yet. Mother nature is the failure here. Its 42* at the bottom of the gulf, and they were having problems with ice forming in the funnel.

Hay will do a good job at soaking it up. The biggest problem is stopping the flow, and keeping off of the few shores it hasn't hit yet.
